Description
This shrimp in creamy tomato sauce is a rich, comforting, and flavorful seafood dish made with garlic, crushed tomatoes, cream, and tender shrimp perfect for any night.
Ingredients
1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
½ cup heavy cream
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Salt and black pepper to taste
2 tablespoons fresh chopped basil or parsley
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Add shrimp and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side until pink and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
Pour crushed tomatoes into the skillet and simmer for 5 to 6 minutes to slightly thicken.
Stir in heavy cream, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Simmer for another 3 to 4 minutes until creamy.
Return the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 1 to 2 more minutes until heated through.
Garnish with chopped basil or parsley and Parmesan before serving.
Notes
Use coconut milk instead of cream for a dairy-free version.
You can serve this dish over pasta, rice, zucchini noodles, or with crusty bread.
Add more red pepper flakes for extra heat or substitute canned tomatoes with fresh if available.
