This moist chocolate lava cake features a rich, gooey center and a tender chocolate shell, made with simple ingredients like dark chocolate, eggs, and butter for the ultimate indulgent dessert.
Ingredients
1/2 cup unsalted butter
4 oz high-quality dark chocolate (60–70%)
2 large eggs
2 egg yolks
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 tsp salt
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
Butter and cocoa powder for greasing ramekins
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C). Grease 4 ramekins with butter and dust with cocoa powder.
Melt butter and chocolate together in a double boiler or microwave until smooth.
In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, egg yolks, and sugar until light and slightly thickened.
Stir in vanilla and salt, then slowly mix in the melted chocolate mixture.
Fold in the flour gently until just combined.
Divide batter evenly among ramekins.
Bake for 11–12 minutes until edges are set but centers are soft.
Let cool for 1 minute. Run a knife around edges, invert onto plates, and serve warm.
Notes
Don’t overbake remove from oven when the center still jiggles.
Use quality chocolate for best flavor.
Add a spoon of Nutella or chocolate truffle in the center before baking for a surprise.
Serve immediately with vanilla ice cream, berries, or whipped cream.
