Description
A fast, bold-flavored Korean beef rice bowl recipe made with lean ground beef, soy sauce, garlic, sesame oil, and a hint of spice. Serve over rice and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions for an easy 20-minute dinner.
Ingredients
1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
2 teaspoons sesame oil
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups hot cooked white or brown rice
Sliced green onions, for garnish
Sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and garlic over medium heat until no longer pink. Break into crumbles and drain grease.
2. In a small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, red pepper flakes, and pepper.
3. Pour the sauce over the cooked beef and stir well. Let simmer for 2–3 minutes until heated through.
4. Spoon hot cooked rice into bowls. Top with beef mixture.
5. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
Notes
Use brown rice or cauliflower rice for a healthier twist.
Double the recipe and freeze half for a future meal.
Add a fried egg or kimchi for an extra layer of flavor.
Store leftovers in separate containers for best texture.
