Ingredients
For the Beef & Marinade:
500g (1 lb) flank steak (or sirloin), thinly sliced against the grain
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp cornstarch
1 tsp sesame oil
½ tsp black pepper
For the Vegetables:
1 cup broccoli florets
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 small carrot, julienned
½ cup snow peas
½ onion, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp ginger, grated
For the Stir Fry Sauce:
3 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tbsp cornstarch (for thickening)
¼ cup water
For Garnish:
1 tbsp sesame seeds
2 tbsp chopped scallions
Instructions
Marinate the Beef
In a bowl, combine sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and black pepper.
Mix well and let it marinate for 15 minutes.
Prepare the Vegetables
Wash and chop all vegetables evenly for uniform cooking.
Separate harder vegetables (like carrots and broccoli) from softer ones (like onions and bell peppers).
Make the Stir Fry Sauce
In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water.
Stir until smooth and set aside.
Cook the Beef
Heat a wok or large skillet over high heat.
Add 1 tbsp oil and sear the marinated beef in a single layer for about 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove and set aside.
Stir Fry the Vegetables
Add another tbsp of oil to the same pan.
Stir fry garlic and ginger for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add broccoli and carrots first, stir fry for 1-2 minutes.
Add bell peppers, onions, and snow peas, cooking for another 2 minutes.
Combine Everything
Return the beef to the pan.
Pour in the prepared stir fry sauce and toss everything together.
Cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and evenly coats the beef and vegetables.
Garnish & Serve
Remove from heat and sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped scallions.
Serve hot over steamed rice, noodles, or a low-carb alternative.
Notes
For extra tender beef, marinate it for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
Don’t overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if needed.
Adjust sweetness and saltiness to taste by tweaking the brown sugar and soy sauce levels.
For a spicy kick, add red pepper flakes or sriracha.
