Description
This baked sea bream recipe is a Mediterranean favorite featuring juicy whole sea bream baked with lemon, garlic, and herbs for bold flavor and crispy skin.
Ingredients
2 whole sea bream (about 1.5 lbs each, cleaned and gutted)
4 garlic cloves, sliced
2 lemons (zested and juiced)
4 sprigs fresh thyme
4 sprigs fresh rosemary
4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
Pat the sea bream dry and make 2–3 diagonal cuts on each side.
Season the inside and outside of the fish with salt, pepper, lemon juice, and olive oil.
Stuff the cavity of each fish with lemon slices, sliced garlic, and fresh herbs.
Place fish on a parchment-lined baking tray or dish.
Bake for 25–30 minutes or until the flesh flakes easily with a fork and the eyes turn opaque.
Remove from oven, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve immediately with your favorite sides.
Notes
For extra crispy skin, make sure the fish is very dry before seasoning and avoid covering it during baking.
To add a Greek twist, include oregano and Kalamata olives.
You can bake the fish in foil for a more steamed texture and easy cleanup.
Leftovers can be turned into wraps, salads, or fish cakes.
